Notes from the buying table
Guatemala, and specifically Huehuetenango in the country's northwest, produces coffee that doesn't surprise us anymore — and that's the point. Cocoa, hazelnut, caramel. A reliable, comforting profile that pairs with the morning in a way louder coffees can't.
The region's elevation (most of our lots are 1,500–1,800 m) combined with the Mam and Q'anjob'al farming communities' deep, multigenerational relationship with the crop means quality here is uncommonly consistent year over year.
We've bought from Finca La Bolsa every year since we opened. Renardo Ovalle's operation is the closest thing to a benchmark this category has.
